Wedding Day Heist in Glendale Ends with Arrests, Weapons & Drugs Discovered

What was supposed to be a joyous celebration turned into a criminal investigation after a brazen theft at a Glendale wedding reception last week.

On Saturday night at the Renaissance Banquet Hall (1236 S. Central Avenue), a wedding gift box containing approximately $60,000 in cash and checks was stolen in the middle of the festivities.

According to witnesses, an unknown man snuck into the venue, grabbed the gift box, and quickly fled into a black SUV waiting outside—driven by a second suspect.

The Glendale Police Department quickly launched an investigation, and thanks to surveillance footage and detective work, they identified Armean Shirehjini as the main suspect.

On Thursday afternoon, Glendale Burglary Detectives arrested Shirehjini at his Sherman Oaks residence.

Alongside him was Andranik Avetisyan, who authorities say was the getaway driver. During the arrest, Shirehjini was found carrying a handgun.

Search warrants executed at both suspects’ homes uncovered a large amount of stolen cash and checks, many of which were made out to the bride and groom.

But that wasn’t all. Officers also seized multiple firearms and various narcotics at the scene, escalating the case further.

Detectives are still combing through the mountain of evidence and say the investigation is far from over.
